SRCE ECDL TESTING CENTRE

Since February 11, 2004, SRCE has been an authorized ECDL testing centre.

ABOUT ECDL

ECDL is an internationally recognized certificate which certifies that the holder has basic IT knowledge and skills.

The above mentioned programme has been established by CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies) in cooperation with ECDL Foundation from Dublin.

There are approximately 15.000 testing centres worldwide, and already about 3 million people have ECDL certificate. Due to great interest, ECDL programme has been extended outside of Europe, and it is called ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence).

In each country included into the ECDL programme, the testing centres’ business is coordinated by a National Operator appointed by ECDL Foundation. Croatian Information Technology Society (HIZ) represents National Operator in Croatia.

SRCE and CITS have signed an agreement on February 11, 2004, and thus SRCE became an authorized ECDL testing centre. Members of the academic community (students, professors, and employees of the University of Zagreb) are thereby granted discounted test prices for the internationally recognized IT certificate.

Path to the basic ECDL certificate

Candidate who wants to acquire the ECDL certificate registers at an authorized testing centre. At the time of registration, candidate receives a Skills Card (ECDL passport) in which his or her progress is recorded. Besides the ECDL certificate (7 tests passed), candidate can also obtain the ECDL Start Certificate (4 tests passed).

Tests can be taken in any order, in any of the authorized testing centres worldwide, unlimited number of times, but within a three year period.

Basic exams:

ECDL 1: Concepts of IT
ECDL 2: Directory and file management
ECDL 3:
Word processing
ECDL 4:
Spreadsheets
ECDL 5: Databases
ECDL 6: Presentation software / drawing packages
ECDL 7: Networking Systems.

At SRCE ECDL testing centre, besides the basic ECDL tests, the ECDL advanced tests can be taken as well.

Path to the ECDL Advanced Certificate

A prerequisite for taking any of the advanced ECDL tests is that the candidate possesses the basic ECDL certificate. For each of the advanced ECDL test it is necessary to purchase an ECDL Skills Card beforehand. After passing an advanced test, candidate receives the ECDL Advanced certificate.

Advanced exams:

ECDL AM 3: Word processing
ECDL AM 4: Spreadsheets
ECDL AM 5: Databases
ECDL AM 6: Presentation software / drawing packages.

After the candidate has passed four tests of the advanced ECDL programme, he or she receives ECDL Expert certificate.
